Growing season is in full swing

First, I had beautiful lilies just days from blooming in the front yard.  Unfortunately, something (probably deer) decided to eat off all of the buds.

Other than that, the rest of my garden is doing well.  At the end of last season, I bought some huge pots and stashed them in the garage and forgot about them.  I discovered them two weeks ago and last weekend filled them with dirt and herbs.   It appears I never took photos of them but I will and post them at a later date.

Our black raspberries are ripening.  I picked over three cups of berries this afternoon and there are so many more yet to ripen!

Here are some photos from around the yard:

CSA Day!

I have been awaiting this day for weeks.  I never thought the work day would end when I got to leave and go pick up my first CSA delivery.  And now that the moment has come and gone, I want to share it with you.

I signed up for the full share bi-weekly through Lotfotl (Living off the Fat of the Land).  I was assigned Week B and so will get a delivery every other week until the week before Thanksgiving (12 weeks).

Here is what my first share looked like:

It included:
bok choy
two kinds of lettuce
purple kohlrabi
peas
potatoes
two kinds of zucchini
swiss chard
asparagus

Now the fun begins trying to cook with all of these tasty veggies!
