CSA Delivery!

Check out the beautiful produce we got this week!
  • broccoli
  • sweet corn
  • sweet onions
  • cucumbers (including some funky round yellow ones)
  • zucchini/summer squash
  • red potatoes
  • lettuce
  • kalette greens
Tomatoes also came in today's box and oh it was so hard to put them in the swap box.  I hope whoever gets the tomatoes truly enjoys them.  But, I took some more swiss chard in exchange along with a couple extra funky cucumbers!

Our Third CSA Share

The excitement continues!

Here is what we received this week Thursday:

  • carrots
  • beets
  • cucumbers
  • summer squash
  • cabbage
  • leeks
  • sweet onions
  • dill
  • swiss chard

Swiss chard is one of my favorite greens so I swapped out a beet and a couple summer squashes for a second bunch of chard.  The chard and onions go so well in scrambled eggs.

Air Plant Flowered

I meant to post this a couple of weeks back.  In June my giant air plant flowered!  Once I bought an air plant with a flower on it but never has any of them in my care flowered, until now.

The Birds and the Bees (and the Butterfiles and the Flowers they Love)

Yesterday, I sat in our backyard for a while and here is the show Mother Nature put on for me.

My garden

My herb garden:

My beautiful daisies:

Other perennials

Black raspberries - oh are they tasty!

Our second CSA share

It is as beautiful as it was last time.  My pick up is the highlight of every two weeks!

As you can see, this week's share included:
  • broccoli
  • red leaf lettuce
  • radishes
  • kohlrabi
  • beets
  • kale
  • scapes
  • snow peas
  • summer squash (including a patty pan squash I swiped out of the swap box)

This morning, I learned that next to swiss chard, beet greens are my favorite green in scrambled eggs.  They have this great combination of an earthy green and the unique sweetness of beets.  Sautéing them seems to bring out both flavors.
