I always know it has been a busy gardening weekend when my hands, legs, and arms are covered in little nicks and scratches, there is dirt under my nails, and my finger tips are really dry. But what a good weekend it has been.
Here is another spring flower:
And here is my rhubarb plant. Hopefully this year it does better.
Our peonies have begun to grow.
And our autumn joy have new growth.
Some of the plants I started from see this year really thrived like the broccoli and brussels sprouts. Others didn’t even sprout so it was kind of weird.
Today I brought out our rosemary plant and the sage and thyme plants. Plus I planted collard greens. Below is a picture. You can also see one of our three rain barrels.
Then after a trip to Stein’s I planted a number of perennials in one of the plots in the back. Here is what I planted:
- Oriental Lilies (Stargazer and Casa Blanca)
- Liatris Spicata
- Shasta Daisies (Snow Lady and Becky) (Leucanthemum
- Showy Upright Sedum (Sedum X “Purple Emperor’)
- Jethro Tull Tickseed (Coreopsis ‘Jethro Tull’)
- Hybrid Speedwell (Veronica X ‘Royal Candles’)
- Ornamental Onion (Allium Senescens ‘Glaucum’)
- Heavenly Habit – Jacob’s Ladder (Polemonium)
Here is a picture. You can also see in the front corner some bulbs I planted last fall.
Then in the back where the huge dead tree used to be after some serious weeding, I planted ferns and Purple Dragon Spotted Nettle (Lamium).
